Helix3D Hip Joint System

Three-dimensional movement closely resembling a normal hip.

Hip joint

The Helix3D Hip Joint System can mean the chance to return to a more normal life. Suitable for hip disarticulation and hemipelvectomy patients, it offers maximum security and function for a wide range of everyday activities.

The hip joint’s integrated expansion springs makes it noticeably easier to initiate swing phase. Energy stored during the stance phase is used during the swing phase initiation to compensate for the missing hip muscles and to reduce the amount of energy needed for walking. Plus, the Helix 3D Hiop Joint System allows for an individual stride-length setting, which controls the pendulum motion in the swing phase.

This advanced system controls the three-dimensional movement of the hip joint during walking so that it closely resembles the normal hip movement in the sound leg. Heel strike in the stance phase is dampened and controlled, hip extension is natural and hyperlordosis is significantly reduced.

  • Produces a three-dimensional hip movement—compensating for pelvic rotation and promoting a symmetrical, natural gait.
  • Allows for leg length reduction during the swing phase, helping reduce the risk of falling.
  • Improves sitting posture and minimizes pelvic obliquity.
  • Large flexion angle makes accomplishing daily activities—such as putting on shoes or getting into a car—easier and more secure.
  • For patients up to 220 lbs/100 kg weight.
